Hearst Tower, New York, USA

Norman Foster left the Art Déco façade of the headquarters of the Hearst Corporation, completed in 1928, standing and constructed a new building inside which now stands at an amazing 152 metres. Media magnate William Randolph Hearst originally intended building a skyscraper 80 years ago. Today, the building on the edge of Central Park in New York plays with architectural history: its striking silhouette, defined by vertical and horizontal, diamondshaped bands of bright stainless steel, is visible for miles.
